Our speaker will be Jose L. Martin, J.D. His topic is The modernization of the LD evaluation: An update on special education law and issues related to RTI interventions and evaluation procedures. Mr. Martin will provide case law examples and hard facts relevant to the trends in special education that could challenge current practices in Arkansas.

NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR ARKANSAS SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST OF THE YEAR


The Arkansas School Psychologist of the Year nominee should be a practitioner who spends most of his/her time providing direct services to students, teachers, and parents in school settings. Trainers, researchers, and administrators generally are not eligible for this award. The Arkansas School Psychologist of the Year will be selected primarily on the criteria established by NASP: (1) Provides a full range of psychological services; (2) performs job in an exemplary manner; and (3) earns respect of colleagues, teachers, students, and parents. Each person nominated will be contacted and invited to submit information related to their school psychology activities for review by the ASPA Award Committee. The ASPA Distinguished Service Service Award recognizes individuals who have devoted years of effective service on behalf of ASPA. Nominees for this award can be administrators, trainers, practitioners, legislators, or any other persons who have made significant contributions to our organization.
